The Story of Karastan: A Legacy of Craftsmanship
Karastan isn’t just another flooring brand, it’s an American icon. Established in 1928, Karastan has nearly a century of experience crafting luxurious floor coverings with exceptional beauty and long-lasting quality.
It all began when an engineer at Marshall Field & Company developed a way to weave oriental-style rugs by machine, creating carpets that matched the beauty and intricacy of handmade Persian rugs. In 1933, Karastan introduced its now-famous “Wonder Rug” at the World’s Fair, allowing 12 million visitors to walk across it. When cleaned, it looked nearly new, proving Karastan’s durability to the world.
Over the years, Karastan continued innovating. From its Kara-Loc weaving method in 1948 to the launch of advanced fibers and designs today, the company has always focused on craftsmanship and quality. Karastan carpets are timeless, elegant, and built to last, blending traditional artistry with modern performance.
The Beauty of Karastan Carpets and Floors
Karastan carpets are known for their luxury and resilience. The brand uses premium materials like New Zealand wool for natural softness, rich color, and lasting strength. Many collections, such as SmartStrand, Kashmere, and wool carpets, combine technology with comfort.
SmartStrand resists stains and wear, perfect for busy households.
Kashmere nylon carpets offer a silky-soft feel with superior durability.
Wool collections bring natural beauty and long-lasting quality.
Karastan’s attention to detail makes every style stand out. From subtle neutrals to statement patterns, these floors look beautiful in every home. And because Karastan focuses on long-term quality, you can count on your floors looking just as stunning years from now.
Karastan’s Hard Surface Collections
Karastan’s commitment to quality extends far beyond carpet. Their hard surface collections combine craftsmanship and technology to bring elegance and durability to every room. From genuine hardwood to innovative luxury vinyl and waterproof flooring, Karastan delivers style that performs.
The BelleLuxe Hardwood Collection features responsibly sourced wood with stunning character and natural texture. Each plank is designed for timeless beauty and built to withstand the demands of busy households. For families seeking beauty with easy care, Karastan LuxeCraft and Karastan Waterproof collections offer the perfect balance of performance and design. These floors capture the look of hardwood and stone while resisting moisture, scratches, and everyday wear.
