Celebrating Fall Initiatives That Strengthen Our Rochester Community
At Messner Flooring, we believe success is measured not only in floors installed but in lives touched. Each fall, as the school year kicks off and the community comes together for events, we look for ways to give back. This season has been no exception. From supporting local students to backing nonprofit fundraisers, our team continues to honor a legacy of service.
Here are just a few highlights of how Messner Flooring gives back to the community.
Back-to-School Support
There’s nothing like the start of a new school year. Kids walk into classrooms with excitement, teachers set the tone, and families do their best to prepare. Yet, not every district or student has access to the supplies needed for success.
That’s why Messner Flooring stepped up. We donated essential school supplies to the Perry School District, Warsaw School District, and Open Door Mission. From notebooks and pens to backpacks and classroom resources, these donations help fill the gaps and relieve pressure on families and educators.
Back-to-school feels even better when everyone is set up for success. Knowing that local children now have the tools they need to learn reminds us why community giving matters.

Isaiah House Bills Mafia Tailgate Fundraiser 🏈
Football season in Western New York is more than a game. It’s a way to come together, celebrate, and rally around causes that matter. This year, Messner Flooring proudly sponsored the Isaiah House Bills Mafia Tailgate Fundraiser.
The event had all the hallmarks of a classic Buffalo Bills tailgate:
Food and drink catered by Celebrate Events, including garbage plates, tailgate apps, and an open bar.
Live DJ entertainment from Marqueee Events.
Raffles, a stirring National Anthem sung by Mark Daniels, and an exciting live auction at halftime.
All proceeds supported Isaiah House, a hospice home in Rochester that has been providing compassionate care since 1987. Isaiah House serves individuals and families with the greatest need: those who may not have the resources or support to navigate end-of-life care alone.
For nearly four decades, the staff and volunteers of Isaiah House have created a warm environment filled with love, comfort, and dignity. Messner Flooring is proud to support their mission. Partnering with them means more than writing a check. It means walking beside a team that ensures no one in our community faces their journey alone.

Foodlink Festival of Food
Few things bring Rochester together like the Foodlink Festival of Food. For 20 years, this event has celebrated the incredible food and beverage talent across the Finger Lakes region. Dozens of local restaurants, wineries, breweries, distilleries, caterers, and farms came together at the Rochester Public Market to showcase the best flavors our region has to offer.
Messner Flooring has been a longtime partner of Foodlink, and we were proud to sponsor and attend this year’s festival. Guests enjoyed samples of everything from artisanal baked goods to local wines, all while supporting Foodlink’s mission of ending hunger and building healthier communities.
Foodlink is more than a food bank. They address both the symptoms and root causes of hunger. Their programs provide emergency food, expand access to nutritious meals, and create pathways for career empowerment. They also advocate for a stronger, more equitable food system across a 10-county service area.
Our team had a blast at the Festival of Food, but more importantly, we were reminded how community partners like Foodlink transform lives.

Messner Flooring Gives Back to the Community Year-Round
While these fall initiatives highlight just a slice of what we do, giving back is not a seasonal effort, it’s a core value. Since the very beginning, when the Messner family first opened shop over 60 years ago, community service has been at the heart of the business.
We support youth sports programs, ensuring kids have opportunities to learn teamwork and confidence both on and off the field.
We donate materials and flooring services to local nonprofits and schools, helping create spaces that are safe, functional, and welcoming.
We collaborate with organizations like Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity, where our involvement has helped revive the “Leaders Build” initiative.
We actively participate in community boards and councils, such as the Small Business Council, to contribute our voice to Rochester’s future.
Each act of giving, whether big or small, reflects our belief that strong communities are built by businesses that care.
Why We Give Back
Messner Flooring’s founder, and later his son Peter, both believed that businesses should be pillars of the community. Today, under Ted Messner’s leadership, we continue that tradition. Ted often shares how moments of connection, like meeting someone who remembers his grandfather installing church flooring decades ago, remind him that community impact lasts longer than any product.
When we give back, we are investing not only in Rochester’s present but in its future. We want every child, family, and neighbor to feel supported. Whether that means a student with the right school supplies, a family finding comfort at Isaiah House, or a community enjoying food and fellowship at Foodlink, the message is the same: you matter, and we’re here with you.
Looking Ahead
As we head deeper into fall and toward the holiday season, our commitment to giving back will only continue. We look forward to sponsoring new events, supporting more nonprofits, and carrying on the Messner family legacy of service.
The Messner Flooring Gives Back to the Community promise is simple: every success we achieve as a company should ripple outward to create opportunities and hope for others.
Congratulations to Our Partners
We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the incredible organizations we worked with this fall:
Perry and Warsaw School Districts, and Open Door Mission.
Isaiah House and its compassionate team.
Foodlink and the many partners who make the Festival of Food a success.
Together, we are building stronger foundations, not just underfoot, but throughout the Greater Rochester community.
